Do you still get a child tax credit even if

you hardly pay any federal? Because previously we would get about 1k per child.

  • It depends on how much you made and would then owe....they may cancel each other out. I know last year when I was divorced but not yet re-married to my now husband and I filled based on my part time job I made so little I didn't owe and got about $800 in child tax credit for my son, of whom I have sole custody.
