I need religious hymms..

For one of my classes. I need one from a "affluent" church and one from a "less affluent" church. Any good ones I can look at on the web. I'll be comparing them to each other in context .

  • Hey Sara, I'm a member of the LDS church, we have a great website to access our hymns. You can see and print the sheet music and listen to the MP3 of it as well.

Here are a few that are my favorite:

    The Spirit of God

    Come Come ye Saints

    How Firm a Foundation

I hope that helps you a little bit! Good luck with your project!

  • Not sure but the Old Rugged Cross has always been a fave of mine. I was raised Methodist....but I don't think its affluent by the meaning of the word.

    Maybe Mahalia Jackson? Not sure....

  • Don't go the mormon route...

The Old Rugged Cross is traditional, and maybe How Great Thou Art for a more affluent church.
Poor people sing the down trodden songs, poor me, Lord help me songs, richer people are more apt to sing songs of praise and worship to a God who's richly blessed them.

  • Wow, real mature Anon 2:24.

Sara wanted religious hymns she could access easily online, I gave her a wonderful database to use. I'm not trying to convert or push my beliefs on her, just trying to be helpful. Oh and How Great Thou Art is in our hymn book, too. Guess we're not so different after all. :)

Again, good luck with your assignment Sara.
