What age was your baby when you stopped letting them have their paci? Or did you let them give it up on their own?

  • Most children will give it up on their own between the ages of 2-4.

My children and grandson were breastfed and would never take one.

  • I never gave her one,so she would never have to wean and i wouldn't have to make her i think its just stupid when i see kids as big as my four year old brother whining because they dropped their pacifier out their mouth.

  • My daughter gave her's up on her own at about 6 months. She wants it maybe once a week now and she is 7.5 months.

Breastfeeding has NOTHING to do with not taking one.

  • I BF my son, and held off on giving him one until he was like 3wks old---I was SCARED to death of him being confused, but he took it VERY well!

anyway, he's almost ONE (next week!!) and still gets it at night or when he's super crabby. I see no need to take it away yet.

he IS off of bottles though! has been for almost a week now! so he just gets his paci now.

  • I think it's probably more common for breastfed babies not to use pacifiers because they tell you not to give them pacifiers in the beginning. MOST of the BF kids I know (and I know a lot of them) never had pacifiers. My DD's BF and she didn't get a pacifier till she was 3 months old. She's 19 months now and we've been using the paci's for naps and bead time only for months. I think we'll take it away completely right before 2yrs. I don't want to have her end up like the girl across the street that I see with them and she's 5!
