selling on ebay? claiming it on your taxes

when you sell on ebay, do you have claim it on your taxes, is it over 600 dollars of sales or more , then you have to claim it>

  • It varies from state to state, for example here in NY i believe it's if you make $500 or more a year, then yes you have to claim it....though many sellers don't and don't pay a dime in taxes on what they sell

  • But let me add, that's why the government is working on fixing that problem....so it's best to do things correctly and keep records of fees, all costs you incur and all profit you make.
