My son is 6 and in the first grade. We have always been a "hug" family...whether it's a relative or a good friend, we give hugs when we say hello and goodbye....
Well, I notice my son doing this when he meets friends outside of school. For him, it's innocent joy seeing someone he knows, but the look on some of the other kid's faces makes me wonder.....most are like "WTH??"....
So now what do I do? I hate to tell him it's not ok to hug his friends but I also don't want them to feel awkward or worse, make fun of him for it. It's kinda sad that some people today feel this is not ok, you know??

Most kids will let him know if they don't like it. Suggest he high-five them
