What does it mean to "tag" photos? (MySpace and Facebook)

Is this a good thing to do or not? Is it permanent? Will it make the person's photos not private anymore? Does it copy the photo to my profile page?

  • It doesn't affect the privacy. It will show on a person's profile that you tagged them in the pic (which basically is just identifying who's in it), and then if someone clicks on the pic, if they don't meet the requirements you set (a friend, or whatever), it will tell them that the pic is private and they have to add you as a friend to see the pic.

  • tagging is selecting where each person is and tagging there name or profile. so like you put the box around your face, and put your name or profile & do the same for everyone else in the picture. no irs nor permanet. i dont think it effects privacy settings.

  • That means you are letting people know who the people in photos are.
