my darling daughter:

well she tried out for student council and lost.she was very upset.i just dont know what to do?she seems so unhappy.she goes to girl scouts and was on a cheerleading squad that was from the other side of town.she did well and like it.the kids werent so competitive.but still we live here.i feel like she wont win.i never tell her this but feel so bad for her.her self esteem seems to be lowering every day.i know her class is a very strong competitve class.she will be middle school next yr which i heard was horrible,very competitive.very cliquey.she only has one good friend and i dont even know how good she is.any suggestions

  • Honestly- high school, middle school, whatever. Tell her to stick up for herself. It's better to be an individual than following what others want you to do. Don't worry about her... just teach her good social skills, and really stress that being an individual.
