Does Anyone Else Have A Pickle Ornament on Their Christmas Tree?

Growing up my family had a pickle ornament that 'Santa' would hide on the tree. Us children would have to try to find it and the one that did would be rewarded with an extra present. Turns out it's an old german tradition or something! Just wondering if anyone else had the same tradition?

  • Yes! We received it as a gift one year with a description of the tradition. We only have one kiddo and she's 2, so we don't honor the tradition, but we hang it on our tree!

  • No but as a kid we always had this very ugly purple glass fish. My dad loved that thing, said it was so ugly he had to put it on each yr. Lord I can still see that thing hanging there lol.
My neighbors had a fight once because she called him in to dinner and he didn't come in right away, then had the nerve to tell her his food was cold. She threw a fork at him and it landed on a Christmas tree branch. They tied a red ribbon to it and hang it every yr lol
