Do you call them chickpeas or garbanzo beans?

  • Both- I don't have just one name for them. ... I guess if I made a shopping list and needed them I'd write garbanzo beans, only because around here the cans are labeled like that.

  • Chi Chi beans. I grew up in a Spanish household (my step father is from Puerto Rico) and we always called them chi chi beans. I don't know if all Spanish people call them that, but that's what they were in his family.

  • garbanzo beans because that's what we called them when I worked in the cafeteria and we always had them on the salad bar along with kidney beans.
    The brand we buy has both names on the label.
