shipping with dry ice?

i want to share a pumpkin cheese cake i am making with a few members of my family, but they live 1000 miles away..

1. can i ship it on dry ice?

2. where do i get dry ice?

3. anything special i need to know about shipping with dry ice?

anything else helpful you would like to share would be wonderful :)

  • Hubby works for the USPS. He also suggests freezing it solid, but then shipping it in a styrofoam container/cooler. Wrap it well of course inside the box. But this time of year, and as fast as some of that stuff is shipped, it'll be fine to do without the dry ice, freezing it will be more than plenty. I'd actually ship it priority unfrozen and feel safe about them eating it, as long as they know it's coming and get it in the fridge right away.

  • make it, freeze it for 2 days, the wrap it in bubble wrap and ship it. Dry ice will be insane.
