Are the gifts you give your children from you or Santa?

When I was growing up all our gifts we got on Christmas morning were from Santa. Now, my husband got gifts from both his parents and Santa when he was little. We have be debating back and forth which way we want to go this year, now that we have a son together. He has a 7 year old daughter that has been getting gifts from both him and Santa. I just feel like Christmas should be from Santa when they are little and still believe. They are going to have years and years of not believing and getting gifts from us.

  • When I had only one child I would painstakingly mark each gift either from Santa or us. I would change my handwriting and make sure not to use the same paper! Things are a little different now with 3. I just write their name on the present. They assume it's from Santa, I don't specify.

  • We open our presents on xmas eve....then the presents under the tree on xmas morning are from Santa....BUT santa only brings ONE gift for each child....usually the one the child has been begging for all year! But then they have stockings with little piddly stuff and leftover halloween candy (and sometimes easter candy, depends if i can remember where I hid the candy).

  • We got one big gift from Santa, plus he filled our stockings. There were always gifts under thre tree from one person to another (from mom to dad, from a kid to mom, etc), so of course mom and dad got us some gifts and wrapped them up and put them under the tree too. Santa never wrapped our gifts - just left them under the tree for us to find as soon as we woke up.

  • We are trying to ween our 8 yr old out of Santa brings all of the gifts...So this yr we have told when he gave us his list that we would be buying most of the gifts...
That Santa can bring him one bc of the many children so we will decide which "One" it will be after we have finished shopping for him...
He actually receives a gift handed to him from Santa at our fire hall at the annual firemen dinner we have (we buy gift/wrap and slip it into Santa's bag)...
Up until last yr (age 7) all gifts came from Santa ...

  • I was raised with both and I do the same for my kids. Growing up we opened gifts with family on Christmas Eve, and then Christmas morning we found our stockings filled and usually one kind of big unwrapped gift from Santa.
