Does the United States Government "own" the churches?

  • None that I am aware of. Most are owned by their congregations or larger governing bodies, if you mean their actual physical addresses. It would be unconstitutional to have it be otherwise. That is what the separation of Church and State is about.

  • nope. i am good friends with a pastor of a church. It took a while for him to get his church going but after 10 years they now own their own building and all done by donations from the community (those who go to the church)
