More bipartisanship?

The Senate’s top Democrat is poised to outline a new healthcare bill designed to meet President Obama’s goal of expanding coverage without adding to the deficit.

Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada met this morning at the Capitol with Vice President Joe Biden to go over the game plan on healthcare reform legislation. Crucial to the White House and Reid is winning over reluctant moderate Democrats.

Reid wants to bring his roughly $900-billion, 10-year healthcare remake to the floor in the next few days. The Democratic leader has spent weeks melding bills from the Senate health committee and the Finance panel. Democrats plan to meet behind closed doors to discuss the bill later this afternoon.

Reid’s office alerted healthcare allies that Senate Democratic leaders planned to unveil the bill at a Capitol Hill event at noon EST Thursday.

  • It continually amazes me that these people actually think that we will actually believe a program such as this can be implemented and not add to the deficit. We are out of money. Where will they get the money to pay for this huge entitlement program? They will either print it or borrow it. If other program cuts would pay for it, then make the cuts and pay off the debts we own now. It is just asinine.

  • Do you conservative guys just sit at home & look for things to post on PC&E? Maybe you should join a real debate group. They're a lot of fun, & not so evil as some of the woman on here can get. It's a real difference when you can actually sit with other intellectuals have friendly debates & not be rude to one another.

Not pointing fingers at you specifically tnmom, but some of you spend way too much time on here....

  • Okay, we are going to have taxes/fees/penalties to pay for this new mess. BO is now talking saying we need to address our debt. Taxes will have to be raised to do that. How much of a tax increase when there are NO JOBS can people afford.

I think that anyone participating in a closed door meeting like these should be run out of town on a rail. I also think that anything having to do with healthcare and cap and trade should be on c-span. They are too controversial and there is way to much backscratching going on for it to be otherwise.
