am i the only one who fed/feeds my family this way?

I fed on demand when the kids were breast feeding. Then when they were little I waited until they were hungry... I never had hard and fast set times to eat. The same now (15-6yrs). I have dinner anywhere between 5-7 but I dont force them to eat a certain amount. On weekends I feed them when they are hungry but do not force a particular time to eat.

I myself will only eat when Im hungry - somedays eating 6 times, somedays only eating 2 times.

I dont know if this realtes to our eating habits (eating only when hungry) but we are all a VERY good weight.... none of us even close to being over weight.

  • I eat when im hungry and i even told this to my midwife yesterday. im not going to force my self to eat just because i am pregnant. I will gag and throw it up if i eat just because people say i have too. If my kids are hungry they will eat a healthy snack. and i personally do not like eating after 6pm so yes everyone gets dinner before 6pm.

  • I did the same. It was basically eat when your were hungry. We had meals everyday but not at any given time and if you weren't hungry you didn't have to eat. My kids are now in college and eat healthy. They do eat junk every now and then but it is not on a daily basis.

  • It sounds like you're doing fine. Everyone is at a good weight and not going hungry.

  • Nope your not...My toddler is a picky eater.. So I make her a little plate of healthy snacks so she can graze throughout the day. I still offer her breakfast Lunch and Dinner but most of the time she won't eat it. When she's at early preschool she has a more structured eating schedule. Plus my husband is deployed and I rarely make big meals for just the 2 of us.

  • We eat the same here.. Food isn't a priority, it's a necessity, so we only eat when we're hungry, and snacks are fruit, or something whole grain. Yes, We're very Special!! lol

  • I do that too. I cook whenever I can, the kids eat and if they say they are done, I tell them they can't come back to the table later so they better make sure they are done. They usually are and I don't make them eat, just tell them to make sure they have had enough. For us, supper can be at 6 or 9 on some of the crazier nights.

  • I formula fed my son on demand. We eat three healthy and balanced meals a day and have two healthy snacks during the day as well. My children are hungry at meal times and eat. They know I am not a short order cook so they eat what I make too. You don't mind spending 2 hours around each meal time cooking more power to you. I have other things to do around my house.lol
