Nanny state can be defined as a government that brings in legislation that it considers is in the people's best interests but that is regarded by some as interfering and patronizing.
Why do some people need the government to hold their hand and allow the government determine what is in their best interest without knowing the full details of the government's plan or intentions?

SO...if you want to complain, then come up with some solutions. Otherwise,it is pointless to complain.
Who's complaining?? Besides you about this question~ I asked questions in hopes to look at HOW to approach the solution. Questions like:Why do some people need the government to hold their hand? Why do some people allow the government determine what is in their best interest without knowing the full details of the government's plan or intentions?
A growing Nanny state is expensive. Are generations growing up thinking they are ENTITLED to services just because they exist?

People don't need it. It is people who think that it will be easier to let the government take over. Just sit back, let the government look after all of your needs. After all, we aren't even smart enough, as a people, to do something as complicated as invent a computer, discover how to separate blood plasma, send men to the moon, or develop DNA testing. We need to be taken care of because we are just lazy and stupid. The government will give us every thing we need. The USSR fell because after just 50 years, they were broke, sick, and starving. "Nanny" state sounds so nurturing. If the government is big enough to look after me, it is also big enough to control me. No thank you if you please.
