hot or cold?

what do you wash your clothes in?

My husband insists that we always wash all the clothes in hot/warm water!!! I tell him he is crazy. He gets this from his mother. I say that only towels and sheets and anything that needs bleached be washed in hot water...everything else gets cold.

I was everything in cold. Hot water doesn't clean any better and its not hot enough to kill germs.

I use to wash everything in hot. I don't know why (maybe my grandmother?) but now everything except for diapers gets washed in cold (sometimes I will wash towels on hot, but only if they stink for some reason after I washed them in cold).

I wash whites in warm/hot and darks in cold. Not sure why, but that's what the automatic settings on my laundry machine are.

I wash all clothes in cold except whites for some reason, I wash whites on hot. I also wash towels and linen in hot water.

Bleached whites - warm wash with cold rinse.
All other loads - cold wash with cold rinse.
