  • Not a good idea at all, unless you get one of those that has 3 number's and they are presest by the parent.

  • I personally dont think young kids should have a cell phone unless its one of those play ones from the toy section.

  • Wherever a 6-yr-old is, it should be with an adult -- an adult who knows the kid's parents and their number(s) and probably has a cell phone of his/her own. No need for a 6-yr-old to have a cell phone.

  • I would say no!

  • I think that is too young like PP said they should always be with an adult that knows the parents number so there is no need for it.

  • They only cell phone I would give a kid under 13 is the one were the parents have complete control over. I saw a commercial I think on the Disney channel.  They just don't have the maturity or self control at that age to handle the responsibility successfully.

  • entirely unnecessary. I personally feel that my DD won't have a cell phone until she's old enough to pay for it on her own.

  • Not sure why you would consider for a 6 yo, but when my teens were younger (like 5th grade) they did carry the firefly phones.
