when is my dd ready for stage 2 foods?

my 6 month old dd has been on stage 1 foods for awhile now. she has pretty well tried all the stage 1 foods that our walmart has to offer and she has done pretty good i think. what are some indications she may be ready for me to try stage 2 baby food?

  • We never used stage 1. The only difference is the size of the jar. We just started giving half a jar at first and worked up as they wanted more. At 6 months, mine were taking two stage 2 jars and a little table food at each meal, plus their sippy of formula.

Stage 2 jars are more cost effective anyway!

  • i agree wit pp. i thonk the only diff between the two is the size, the company probably figures that a smAller baby needs a smaller jar of food, but you can buy the stage 2s and just save the rest. once baby has more teeth and actually uses a chewing motion than you can move up to baby foods with little bits of chunks in them.
