How can you tell if an egg is boiled or raw without breaking it?

Long story short, my wonderful husband just mixed up boiled eggs with the fresh ones and I cant tell which ones have been boiled already. Is there anyway to find out? Thanks!

  • Spin them on a table. If they spin, they are boiled. If they don't they are raw. Or is it the other way around?

  • Maybe the hard boiled eggs will sink in water. Fresh eggs float. I think. So the cooked ones may sink. I'm posting anon incase I just made an ass out of myself!

  • shaking them? if they sound shaky inside, odds are they're raw. if they seem solid, they're probably cooked. or just reboil all the eggs, then they'll all be the same.

  • You can't just reboil them. Then then one's that were hard boiled will be ruined.

  • Gently place the egg on its side on a countertop.

    Spin the egg.

If the egg spins freely, it's hard-boiled.

If it wobbles and stops spinning, it's not hard-boiled.
