Breastfed baby pooping too much?

My son is 9 months old and is EBF and for the past two weeks he's been pooping alot more than usual. He use to poop 1 per week (normal for a breastfed baby) but now he goes 3 times a day. Is this normal?

  • I'm pretty sure everything from once a week up to once per feeding is normal for a breastfed baby.

  • It's perfectly normal for something to come out as often as food or breastmilk goes in.
My kids each went multiple times per day up until they were on solid foods and weaned. Sometimes they still go twice or 3 times a day.

  • My girls are poop machines. My 2 month old poops about every feeding which is like 8 times a day and my 2 1/2 year was pooping 3 times a day until recently. As long as the poop isn't watery, I wouldn't worry.
