I ask this because I got a flier from a local U.S. Rep, requesting those that support the healthcare bill being funding solely on another federal tax increase on tobacco, all types, alcohol, candy and soda, to write in to her and she would forward the support. She gave stats of all the costs smoking first and secondhand causes, such as ear infections and asthma in kids, lung cancer stroke, chronic strep throat, etc.
What do you think?
No. I don't support taxation for something they can reform without cost to the taxpayers. If they would change regulations on insurance they would be able to make insurance more affordable. I don't see the point in destroying the current system for the hope that a new system will net better results.

Unfortunately, we are a greedy, impatient, self-centered nation.
We want the best of everything.
We want it ALL, NOW.
We want it all now and for a bargain.
REFORM-hell NO- not us. It's mine-
Tightening our belt- that's for someone else, not us-
It seems we have the temperaments and critical thinking skills of toddlers.
We are our own worst enemy. We talk of terrorists, yet we sabotage ourselves with our lazy habits each and ever day. The government and all elected officials are included in the collective, "We". You don't have the $$$- charge it. You don't have insurance- hit the ER, someone Else will pay for it. You don't have the funds- borrow from CHINA. Implosion-
