Clergy abuse victims criticize RI bishop, agree with them?

The group called on Tobin to publish the names of priests from the diocese who have been convicted of or admitted molesting children, or if a thorough investigation has turned up credible evidence of child molestation, even if no conviction resulted.

The diocese has said in court papers that 125 of its priests have been accused of molesting children. While many of their names are known from lawsuits and news accounts, others have never been released.

Mike Guilfoyle, a spokesman for the diocese, said some of those allegations were recanted, found to be false, or made after a priest has died, so he cannot defend himself. He said the diocese has taken extensive efforts to protect children, including taking out ads and encouraging people to come forward, as well as responding immediately to accusations of abuse and cooperating with law enforcement.

Still grinding that axe against the Catholic Church, Sweet??? We get it. You have no plans to join the Catholic Church.. lol...Ok, here goes again.. IMO~This is between a man who vocalized a confidential conversation and the church who spoke out against his claims. It's only as political as YOU choose make it... How about keeping politics OUT of RELIGION. Isnt THAT what the founding fathers meant...not the reverse. They were getting away from a ruling force that was monkeying around in their religion. Kennedy is a Catholic...the Catholics ARENT Kennedy's. He CHOSE to speak out against his own church and then isnt happy when they implement the restrictions that go along (and have gone along for CENTURIES) with the decisions he made. Not sure what your knowledge is of the Catholic church but let me explain something. You dont walk into a Catholic church...head for the alter, fall on your knees and BECOME Catholic. Catholic children take classes to be able take their first Communion they are well versed and FULLY understand the commitment they are making and what the beliefs are when you CHOOSE this religion when they make their confirmation. The CHURCHES stance is nothing new.

Rep. Kennedy doesn't perform abortions, he didn;t have one, what church doctrine has he broken? He isn't making that moral decision for OTHERS....The law of the LAND is it is a legally protected medical procedure. The church has no say...I don't want my politicians making MORAL decisions for ME, do YOU?
