Shouldn't he have taken his time for BOTH? Or should he have rushed to do both? Either way he doesn't seem very consistent.  To me, it feels like someone else is pulling his strings. He doesn't know what he is doing.

He's taking time before making his decisions on Afghanistan for several reasons. The first of which being, while the field commander may want more troops, we just don't have them. The field commander is requesting approximately 40,000 troops. There are only about 50,000 that are not currently already in Iraq or Afghanistan. If he were to send the amount requested, then there would be only about 10,000 to cover any emergencies in the US or anywhere else in the world. He's attempting to make sure our resources aren't spread too thinly. If he were to send out all of our troops, people would be on him for that too.

Can't we just trust that maybe he knows more than we do about the situation, and that he's doing the best he can with the equipment and resources he has?

I think your question is extremely valid... The stimulus and health care had to be done immediately, but our soldiers who should be priority above everything, need back-up, they are being ignored, more and more die every day. His negligence to our military may be politically correct to some but it is most likely responsible for the deaths of some of our country's defenders! His inaction is NOT Presidential-ly Correct. IMO! Presidents don't hang our soldiers out to dry, it's just NOT acceptable under any circumstances. But since he never was a soldier, he wouldn't have a clue what it's like to be in their situations nor does he care, if he did, he wouldn't put them in harm's way. It's been nearly 4 months since the request was made. There is only one decision to be made, send help, why is it even up for discussion? Just another "Issue" he can add to his list of bad decisions...

Because the stimulus provided borrowed money for pork projects. They don't care about the tax burden as long as they get their pet projects done. The troops they don't much care about.

Quite clearly, as an "ordinary citizen", I know EXACTLY what must be done!!! EXACTLY!! As does every other person who answers this question explaining what Obama should do. We are all superior and Obama is dumb (never mind his high education & excellent grades. Smoke & mirrors, no doubt!) All of us know how to run this country BETTER THAN ANYONE ALIVE!!! All you have to do is ASK US!! (DUH!) Even tho' we haven't stepped into ANY official capacity in the White House (that's just a slight speed bump for us), we still know EXACTLY what needs to be done!!! I can't believe the Representatives, Govenors, Legislators.... well, EVERYONE in actual "Office" doesn't just stop everything they're doing and listen to what we say! We have ALL THE ANSWERS!!! Why won't they take our thoughts & opinions seriously?!! We don't NEED to be there, we have the answers anyway! When are they going to be as smart as us & do things OUR way!

And, never mind the complications that "all of us" have a million different ideas & concepts of what Obama needs to do!! They should just pick ALL OF US and do EVERYTHING we think Obama should do!! (DUH again!) Could that possibly be MORE confusing & put our country more into a state of chaos?? Well, I guess it's possible -- but, that doesn't matter!! We are the smartest people on Earth and Obama needs to do EVERYTHING we tell him (or think) he should do. I don't know why it's taken "society" this long to figure out.... It's quite obvious: We have the answers. Obama doesn't. We are smarter than he is (even if we never finished high school) and he couldn't possibly know more than we do!! His rush on the stimulus package gave great benefit to his supporters, but the military tend to be a little bit more conservative, therefore he's moving slower...
