Get a netbook... most are less than $399 w/o sales.

craigslist. Or right now there should be some good christmas deals at most stores, you could even try ebay

We just bought a newer dell desktop with a flat screen monitor for 150 at a Pawnshop and we are very pleased with it. Ours came with a 6 month warranty so if anything happens to it we will get a full refund or we could exchange. So maybe you could check around with your local pawn shops and find a good deal.

Wal-Mart just had HP laptops on sale yesterday for 298 and 398. We're an HP family, normally wouldn't buy one at WM though, but we're happy with our purchase. Should have hit up that sale. Don't get some cheapy no-name brand - they're more trouble than they're worth.

Best buy had a door buster yesterday for a laptop for $179!

Oh and I probably wouldn't get a netbook because then you have to pay for the monthly data plan and sign a two-yr contract. Its just not worth it to me!

Best Buy and I wouldn't buy a netbook. I got my laptop at Best Buy. Sam's Club has good deals too. I would stay away from Craigs List, EBay, etc because you won't have a guarantee that it will work when you get it.
