How soon after "doing the deed" can you test if you don't have a period?

We are TTC but I haven't gotten my period back since my baby was born. She is still breastfed, but I could still be ovulating because I did not ever get my period back when my first was born and she was not breastfed at all. I got pregnant when she was 13 months old without ever having a period. Anyway, since I don't have my period to go by and I haven't started charting yet, I don't know when to test. We haven't gotten very serious about trying yet and because of a recent trip only had the opportunity to conceive once if I'm even ovulating at all, which was almost two weeks ago. When can I take a test?
