how much would i get if i pawned my laptop for extra holiday cash?

i have a working dell inspiron 1545 laptop in great condition. i still have the original box & discs, manuals, etc. i originally paid $500 for it. how much do pawn shops usually give for laptops?

  • Pawning means you're getting a cash loan, then when you pick up your item-you pay the money back. You can sell it to the pawn shop, I bet they give you $150, if that. If you paid $500, it's now used item, they give you $150 and mark it up to $225...they don't really make that much of a profit, which is why they pay you so little in the first place.

  • check for that specific brand on ebay or similar websites. if you find an average price, you'll probably get about half of what it sells for.

  • Pawning is one of the worst ways to make money. More times than not, you are going to get way less than your item is worth.

  • You are better off to put it on Ebay. The reason being that a pawn shop gives you what THEY feel it's worth (like what their customers look for, etc) but Ebay is up to the discretion of people all over and what they want, how bad, and how much money they are willing to pay.
