How secure are our nuclear power plants?

Has the msm even picked this up? This happened on Thanksgiving..

More than 30 Cubans were dropped off close to the `heavily guarded' Turkey Point nuclear power plant and remained undetected until they call for help hours later.

More than 30 Cubans, dropped off by a smugglers' speedboat, spent up to eight hours on the off-limits grounds of the Turkey Point nuclear power plant on Thanksgiving day, then called the plant's nuclear control room to say they were by the cooling canals.

  • Cubans also got dropped of at Naval Air Station Key West last year. Thank the budget cuts to the USCG. They are a branch of the US military; they are charged with patroling and guarding our shores, yet they are the least funded. My son was in the USCG and stationed in Key West. He commented regularly on the repair issues with his ship because there was no budget. He would go to sea for weeks at a time with below par equipment. The Cubans were dropped off because our first line of defense is underfunded, under-respected, yet the first called if you are stranded on your boat, on a mountain, or needing to plucked off your roof after a flood.

  • FPL spokesman Michael Waldron said there was no security breach since the Cuban group was nowhere near any of the plant's heavily secured buildings. He did not say how far into the surrounding natural areas the heavy security extends.

This is completely beside the point.  It doesn't take a mental giant to see what could have happened.  I am sure they will work hard to downplay all of this and then find some poor sap to take the fall.  His / her head will roll and everyone will forget.  Until the next episode happens.

  • My guess would be not very, just like our chemical plants. Bill Maher has been bitching about this for a few years but very few others have noticed.

  • You ladies would pee your pants if you knew what rolled over the highways on a daily basis with no security at all.

  • There is no security because they feel there is no threat. imagine that! isn't that fishy?
