Are 3 point harness infant carriers still legal?

I ask because a friend is using a handmedown, and I nearly had a heartattack when I saw that!

  • all car seats expire after 5 years... did you know that?? LOL they do call the manufacturers they'll tell you no safety gaurentee after 5 years... anyway they have stopped making the 3 point as of 2008 but are stilll ok if youre using one currently

  • Yeah they are legal and still sold, BUT a used carseat where mom does not know about accidents, misuse or if the straps were washed yeah thats unsafe. MOST infant seats expire at 6 years not 5 like PP said, its 6 years for almost all infant seats.

  • They are.... sadly. Not many companies make them anymore... but some do.
They for sure aren't very safe though... I would never use one.

  • Thanks everyone, I'll let my friend know! It came from her sister, but I think her nephew is 6, so that seat would not be okay anymore! I am getting a convertible so I'll let her use my infant carrier until she can get a new one!
