Is there any way I can break the screaming habit?

My kid screams so friggin loud when he's in timeout and ignoring it doesn't help. He also kicks and hits the walls during timeout and ignoring it doesn't stop that, either. Help?

  • Don't know if it will work for you or not but I had one foster child that we ended up having a "screaming" contest. When he screamed I screamed later telling them I could be louder because I was bigger. Of course we live in the country with no neighbors to hear us but it worked. Also as far as the kicking the walls try stomping the floor and having a fit just like him (without hitting the wall) Sometimes when you do they see it as looking stupid and don't do it anymore.

You can also simply move his chair smack dab in the middle of the room so there is nothing he can touch. Best of luck with things.
