  • Its not the begin all and end all to their being and they are COMPASSIONATE enough to understand that some people may not be comfortable around them, What a load of you know what. Who would even want to be around someone who was not "COMFORTABLE" with them? Find some better friends or family members. These ppl are not second class, scary, infectious ppl. What is wrong with some of you ladies? Did you grow up under rocks? Why should ppl have to feel COMPASSION towards ppl who are NOT COMFORTABLE with who they are??? OMG, you'd think it was the 1800s-

  • So much for their often-mentioned spirit of charity. Can it really be called charity if the price is submission to their agenda? Of course not. I think I'll keep this article, and bring it up when people try to use the "but the church gives so much in charity" argument.

I agree with this statement. DC should call the arrogant establishment's bluff. The sad thing is, many in the congregation do not agree with the church's stance on many, many issues.

  • Older...this is REAL simple. The Catholic religion does NOT agree wit this. This isnt a new thing the church has been around for CENTURIES. Ok. This is their right. and as these are THEIR charities they have this right. And before you jump on the pedophile priest bandwagon....unless you are willing to paint ALL Muslims as Terrorists dont even TRY and paint ALL priests as pedophiles.

  • momo, this is part of the article, The issue here is they are using public funds, and to allow people to discriminate with public money is unacceptable," Rosenstein said.

  • Fearful that they could be forced, among other things, to extend employee benefits to same-sex married couples, church officials said they would have no choice but to abandon their contracts with the city.

It sounds like a win / win for gays.  Besides, liberals are always complaining about the separation of church and state.  You have finally pushed them too far.  They won't ever accept homosexuality.  Ever.  Why do you not understand this?  They don't have to accept or tolerate it.  It is not a law that you need to accept other people's lifestyle.  You just can't commit crimes against them.  If it's a crime to not offer the benefits to gay partners, then I guess they know what they need to do to protect themselves against litigation from so called discrimination.

  • why does the muslim have to be mentioned in everything stay on topic!!!!!!

Answer by Anonymous at 2:09 PM on Dec. 1, 2009

  • i think they have a right to proceed with what is within the limits of their belief system. The threat is hard on those that need the services but i can understand why the church feels this way.
