  • I have noticed boys are like girls, while one might like something the other of that same gender may not.

Some common interest things for boys are: sports, cars, dinosaurs, trucks, trains and action figures. You will need to figure out your son’s interest; my nephew is into dinosaurs, cars and trucks, but my son who is the exact same age has always preferred trains, action figures, and sports items.

Some gender neutral items that both boys and girls commonly like are: professions dress-up outfits (i.e., chef, police, fireperson, doctor, and vet), cooking items and stove sets (pretty much anything role-play even baby dolls can be an interest for both boys and girls), lego's and building items, riding toys and art/music items, books and games.

  • Thomas the train stuff, Kid K'nex, Kapla Blocks, Lincoln Logs or any large truck of any kind that he pushed around.

  • No doubt about it, Thomas the Train toys were his favorite at this age. He is almost 5 and still plays with his Thomas stuff daily so its a good investment. You can get train tables for $80+ depending on what brand, size you get. The diecast trains of inexpensive and last forever! Hope that helps :)

  • My son is mechanically inclined. He likes his Lego Duplos, puzzles, books, tool bench, trucks and cars, dinosaurs, balls, and tricycle. He also enjoys his sister's kitchen stuff.

My nephew is a wild little guy who never sits still. He likes trains, cars, trucks, and anything he can throw - he would never sit and play with blocks, puzzles, or books.

I am thinking a tent would be neat at this age too.
