uhh my boob just sprung a leak :/

just sitting watching tv with my boob out- baby sleeping on lap. sprung a leak. clear milk was just a continual 3-foot squirt... like a dinghy on a lake with a hole.

what happened?

  • LOL! That happened to me all the time in the beginning, although I didn't sit around with my boobs out. But I wear the nursing tanks from Target and my boobs would leak randomly. And sometimes when I would be getting out of the shower I would look down and milk would be squirting all over the shower curtain. Very annoying! It gets better. I stopped leaking as bad during the second month. I'll sometimes still leak, but not nearly as often or as much.

  • That's normal! Don't worry. :) You just let down a little. I used to have to wear nursing pads all the time or I'd end up with a soaked shirt. I always used to let down and squirt long distances when I'd first get in the shower, too.

  • yeah thats one of those embarassing things that happends. i didnt bf with my first so i didnt know about it. and when my sil came up for thanksgiving last year we were all sitting around i had just had my son and all of a sudden my whole shirt got wet! i was soo embarassed. in front of her was bad but her boyfreind too! ugh. but they understood. i pumped changed shirts and she went out and bought me nurseing pads. soo sweet.

  • Nursing pads are a new mom's best friend :) I leaked like crazy with my first - with my 2nd it wasn't as bad, but still would let down every time I took a shower unless I had JUST nursed (the warm water will do that. . . . ). Get yourself some nursing pads :)
As far as nursing "attire" - - I would recommend having at least some nursing bras on hand, but otherwise pretty much any shirt you own can be a "nursing" shirt - -I wear regular tanks under all of my shirts so that when I lift my shirt I don't feel like I'm exposing my whole tummy and side and the world. Then I pull the top of the tank down, unhook the nursing bra, and can nurse pretty discreetly, without needing to throw a blanket over my baby (neither kid liked that).
