  • Assuming all muslims are middle eastern or assuming all Hindus are Indian is racist. Assuming any religion is one race or any race is one religion is. Bigots tend to mix race and religion.

  • no, but it is incredibly rude...

Answer by sandypops at 1:53 PM on Dec. 3, 2009

  • No, religious beliefs and race are two different things...

Answer by wendyb27 at 1:55 PM on Dec. 3, 2009

  • It's not racist because religion has nothing to do with race...but I do find it rude. No matter what religion someone is making fun of.

•'s not. But I do think that assuming all people of a certain religion are a certain way (violent, stupid, ignorant) is a form of prejudice. That being said, I personally have no problem with the criticism or ridicule of religion itself as an institution.

  • ecodani, I find what you said to be very true.

Answer by IhartU at 2:00 PM on Dec. 3, 2009

  • No, since religion and race are not necessarily connected. And it leads to lots of misunderstanding when people believe that they are. However I would say that disliking those of a specific religion is certainly a form of prejudice.

Answer by SabrinaMBowen at 2:07 PM on Dec. 3, 2009

  • it's not racist but prejudice

I would disagree with certain assumptions - like assuming middle eastern ppl are Hindu or Muslim - is not so much racist as just ignorance.  It's an assumption or association, period.

Racism is hatred, and hatred of a certain race or culture.

  • No. Religion has nothing to do with race.
