Maersk Captain blamed for pirate attack?

http://news.aol.com/article/maersk-alabama-crew-blames-captain/797284?icid=main|hp-laptop|dl2|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fnews.aol.com%2Farticle%2Fmaersk-alabama-crew-blames-captain%2F797284

Isn't this like blaming the woman that wore a short skirt to the seedy bar for her rape? Do you agree with this blame tactic?

  • They said he deliberately ignored the safety regulations and warnings from his company to stay 600miles from the coast of Africa and he supposedly didn't follow that order. He also didn't lock the door when the pirates came aboard, therefore, he was taken captive not the other way around where he gave himself up. They talked to the chief engineer today on Studio B.

  • It's his ship. In the navy if there's an incident with a ship, usually the captain is to blame no matter who is at fault. Yes it was a civilian vessel, but he is responsible for the overall safety of the crew and the integrity of the vessel.
