switching to soy formula and then back to regular

Hi i was wondering if any of you moms knew if it would be ok to give my daughter the similac soy formula isomil for two cans cause i don't have any money to buy new cans of regular and im running out. But i have two cans of the isomil soy similac that i got for free samples from similac when i was pregnant. Would it bother her to switch her to it for the life of the two cans and then when we get paid again switch her back to the regular similac formula?

  • My daughter was on soy for about 6 months and that whole time we had to give her 1/2 oz of prune juice once a day to make her go poop. Soy usually constipates a baby really bad and I do not think switching like that is good either. Contact your doctor, they may have some samples that will get you through pay day of what you are currently using.

  • You can do it, but be prepared for a little bit of stomach upset (because of the switch) and either constipation or loose bowels (from the soy).

Check with the WIC office and/or your pediatrician's office for samples.
