when should i switch him to a toddler bed?

this goes along with my crib question.. it got me to thinking..when is too soon to put him into a toodler bed?? the new baby will be here in june. rileys getting her twin bed in march. and that would put aiden at...i could hold off untill like beging of june if i had to makeing him..a/b 16 17 months old by this a good age to make the switch??sooner>?later?>

  • i hear a lot where the best time to transition is once they start climbing out. even if not successful, if they attempt to climb out is the "time" to transition. Better to do it before they fall out right?

  • It is a fine line between keeping him in the crib as long as he can't climb out, and moving him early enough so that he doesn't feel that the new baby is taking his place. If the baby is due in June, I'd say early in the year, maybe right after the holidays. March at the latest.

  • If Aiden is not climbing out of the crib yet, can you get your newest addition a new bed? That way Aiden can keep the crib until he/she is ready.
