Why does the moon look between orange n dark red?

I live in califas n just wondering.

  • its called a harvest moon, i hear. one time my aunt told me it meant it would be hot the next day when the moon was like that.

  • It can be a harvest moon. But sometimes air pollution and other things in the atmosphere can cause it too. I always think it's such a cool site to see!

  • I read up on the harvest moon and its shortly after the autumn equinox (Sept 21st). Wouldn't it be too far off? And I didn't know there was a lunar eclipse last night? Was there?

    I'm thinking it was the pollution since I live in Los Angeles. :P
