  • Daily intake....2.5oz x (weight in pounds) = total ounces per day

This is a VERY GENERAL rule of thumb.

Mine each took 8oz every 2 hours.

If the baby is hungry, feed it. Feed on demand...ALWAYS.

  • EVERY BABY IS DIFFERENT. JUST BE HAPPY YOU'RE BABY HAS A GOOD APETITE! :)
WE WERE ONCE CONCERNCED ABOUT MY 2 WEEK OLD BABY SINCE SHE WAS DRINKING 5-6 OZ OF MILK PER FEEDING(WE WERE TOLD THEIR STOMACH IS TOO SMALL AT THAT POINT), BUT THE PEDIATRICIAN SAID IS NORMAL WHEN THE BABY GOES THROUGH GRUALLY VERY GROWTH SPURT. SHE WAS ACTUALLY VERY HAPPY THAT!
YOU CAN NEVER OVERFEED YOUR BABY(THIS IS ACCORDING TO DIFFERENT LACTACTION SPECIALISTS WE TALKED TO)

  • If you think your baby is hungry feed him/her. My little girl has always been a big eater. She is now 6 months and just now got to where she will have a bottle every 4 hours, taking 7oz. When she was 3 months she was taking 5 oz every 2 hours. Dont be affraid to feed. They will turn their head when they are done. Best to feed on demand.

  • If the baby seems hungry or wants more, feed more. Increase by 1 ounce increments until the baby is satisfied. By the same token, because you bottle feed baby has an easier time demanding more than demanding a stop -- don't encourage a baby to finish a bottle once they've stopped the first time.
