Nipples after breastfeeding

Since I've been nursing, my nipples have been semi-erect 24/7. As much as I know about nursing, I have no idea if they will ever be soft again when I am finished! What are your experiences with this? Thanks!

  • Yeah I was scared that mine would never be the same, and while they aren't, the nipples did pretty much go back to normal. My breasts just aren't as firm as they used to be lol. :(

  • Breast pads are great for covering the porn star look while keeping leaks at bay too. The constant sucking as well as a callousing of sorts can not to mention fuller breast that push them out can lead to nipples that stand at attention ready to go. While I've found that this has gotten worse with each baby they've always gone back once we've weaned.

  • it lasted a couple of months after they weaned, but did subside on its own. like pp said, if it bothers you wear nursing pads- obviously not their intended purpose, but i'm sure it would work for that too. it never bothered me... and once they were a few months old, i didn't have any problem with leaks... or, very rarely.
