  • we have a 2/1 split here. my ds says he likes colored lights (which i think look tacky- and i don't even put up a tree anyway, so my opinion doesn't really count.) my dd & i like white... so does my mom.

  • I prefer white I like my ornaments to stand out, i use colored outdoors and only white indoors. I also use ALOT of lights indoors so we dont even need the regular lamps on we have lighted garland over every doorway and window.

  • My dh preferred white so our tree was bought with built in white lights. If you are stringing the tree you can switch off each year.

  • i usually do colored but i got my son his own tree and let him do the colored and i did white on the family tree. I think color looks best if you have alot of bright pretty colorful decorations and white looks nice if you have a lot of gold traditional type stuff

  • As a kid we often had 2 trees. 1 was a "martha stewart" tree with all the decoration matching and white lights, this tree was in the entry and was a beautiful welcome for guests. Our second tree was covered in the handmade ornaments of the kids, colored lights, etc. The second is what I prefer it feels more homey and traditional.
