  • Not until it is too late, but there is a link on the site that tells us where to look for all that information (radio and tv stations).
One of the local radio stations has an awesome website and are usually one of the first in media to display that info.
The tv stations are always up-to-date, but I hate waiting for them to go through southern MD and DC before they finally display northern VA where we live.

  • Weather related? No. We have to listen to local newsradio or check the website of one of the local newspapers.

  • At our local school they send you a text.

  • Our school doesn't have a website. But I have a local TV station bookmarked to their closing info so I have easy access to the info. It's updated every 15 minutes.
But our school rarely ever closes. We had 2 snow days the first year they went there. And 1 last year (which was preemptive...two days before Christmas break started last year the kids had a little concert, they told us then school was canceled the next day because of an expected blizzard).
Now we have a phone thing. The principal can set up an automated message and it will call every family at the school (there are only like 250 kids).

  • Our school is very small, has a very basic site, and yes, if there's an early dismissal, they'll do everything in their power to get it on the website - at the very top of the home page in big red letters. We do have an option to receive texts (snocap I think it's through), and there are also radio & tv announcements, plus a couple of radio station & tv websites that have that info.
