  • Yep. There isn't a such thing as "Nonconformity" anymore, because in the upteen years this world has existed everything has been said and done. We can't honestly say "I am a nonconformist", because in reality you are. Everyone is.

  • I hear all the time that 'alternative' people are nonconformists, but they all look, act and dress the same. So how exactly is that being unique or nonconforming?

  • it isn't- its a self exploration/identity crisis. people, all people, feel the need to fit in somewhere- to find their niche. and in some ways, labeling yourself a "nonconformist" is committing to an even higher level of conformity, as the need to constantly change with the ebb and flow of the culture draws one into an even stronger identity within that particular sect of society.

i in no way consider myself a nonconformist- to function in society you must conform. that does not mean that one must fit any predetermined cookie cutter social life, or personal identity... (:

  • I think we are ALL conforming to something...even if its non conformity.

  • If one sees "nonconformity" as a certain way of dressing or behaving, they're just conforming in a way that USED TO be different. But if a person is just being who they truly are and that lifestyle or philosophy is uncommon in the larger society, and they aren't being that way for the sole purpose of "nonconformity," they're not really conforming.
