Would you let your daughter play pee wee football?

My 8 yr old wants to play pee wee football next year and I told her she could if she really wanted too. I've had several people tell me I'm crazy b/c she may get hurt. Well, boys get hurt too, being a boy does not make you any tougher. It depends on the individual child/person. I've always told my children they can be/do anything they want, so why wouldn't I let her play? She will be in 4th grade and the team is 3rd and 4th graders. I've told her she will get hurt (knocked down alot) and it won't be easy being the only girl on a boys team, but if she wants to play, I don't see why she shouldn't.

  • HELL YEA LET HER PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Girls should b encouraged to break out of gender stereotypes & do what they want. I played football w/ da boys & LOVED it. Life's a rough n tumble sport that's gonna knock you down & bruise you, better learn now how to get back up & keep on going. Playing football w/ da boys also let me in on how they think, was better equipped to deal w/ da bad ones later on. Don't foget the kicker for the university of colorado was a girl! already made it into college ball, why can't yours play pee wee? Let her play & tell those that judge you, hey she wants to play & i believe in encoraging my kid, not holding em back. kinda hypocritical to tell our kids they can be anything they wanna be & then tell girls they can't play football.

  • Let her play! Be prepared though....some parents may not like their boy being knocked around by a girl, so be sure and have a good come back when they smart mouth you!
