My dd hasn't pooped in 48 hours...should I wait before giving her more baby food?

She's 6 months and has been eating 1 jar of stage 1 for the last week....I gave her bananas 2 days ago and she hasn't pooped since...she had sweet potatoes yesterday and still nothing...should I wait before giving her more food until she goes? She's breastfed otherwise so she definitely doesn't need the food but she seemed to be enjoying it....

  • How long has she been eating solids? I don't think 2 days is that long, but if it comes out as a dry pellet she's constipated.

  • Maybe you can give her some prunes.... My son never really had a constipation problem, but after feeding him prunes, he REALLY doesn't have a problem, if you know what I mean...

  • Try to give her fresh bananas ( they have a laxative affect ). You really don't need to give your baby jar food, its just expensive and inferior. Just throw some sweet potatoes in the oven and mash it with a fork.

  • inferior?? LOL. I usually do make my own but I keep jars here too for convenience reasons.

  • Jar food really is overpriced and not needed.

  • Ack to all of the above. Give her pears - they're easy on the tummy and help loosen a baby. Also, since she's bf, eat something yourself that normally helps you poop or gives you the runs - it'll have the same effect, just lessened, on her!

  • Bananas Bananas are high in fiber and can help restore normal bowel function.
