chewing on herself

so my daughter likes to chew on her hands, and then they turn all red. and sometimes shell chew to hard and whine.. and when she cries or doesnt get her way shell bite her arm and then cry.. im not really worried but how do i make her stop, im sure chewing on your hands all the time isnt good.

  • They make a solution you can paint on the kids nails to stop them from chewing their nails. Try this on her arms, pretty sure its safe for the skin but double check. It should be in w/ the nailpolishes.

  • Could she be stressing and/or possibly teething? When my son's pre-molars were coming in, he would chew the front or sleeve of his shirt until it was sopping wet. They hurt a lot and take a LONG time to come all the way thru...months. Maybe some tylenol/ibuprofen if she is teething. Or those homeopathic teething tablets that you can get anywhere. If she's not, let her chew on a teether or a blanket, etc. When children aren't very verbal, they have to copeexpress the stress somehow. What your daughter is doing is normal and a phase. You can help her thru it. This too shall pass.

  • i have heard that if you keep their hands covered it makes it harder for them to bite themselves
