Dry thumb sucker

My ds is 15mo and loves his thumb. Unfortunately, with winter here, his thumb is dry and starting to crack. I've tried lotion but with as much as he sucks his thumb, I swear he sucks the lotion right off. Every time I see him with his thumb in his mouth I take it out and give him something to play with to discourage the thumb sucking but all he wants is that thumb. Any advice on what to do?

  • Maybe jojoba or coconut oil for the cracking. Other than that you are doing what you can to discourage it. I say leave it alone, he will grow out of it.
