Having a problem with 2 year old HELP PLEASE

She wont eat anything but cereal lately. She's always been an extremely picky eater...but now she doesn't even want the few things she DOES like...and all she wants to eat is cereal. Its been like this for a few days now. What the hell do I do?

  • This is a normal behavior for a child of that age. As long as she is eating and drinking she will be fine. She will outgrow this. The more you show her that it upsets you, more then likely the longer she will do it.

  • My 16 month old has ALWAYS been a picky eater - to the point where every month we are asked to drag him in for weight checks, even though he looks fine and is healthy. (He has always been below his chart on weight.) It is very difficult, but you just have to get creative and keep trying new things. My son actually started eating better when we laid off and just let him eat when he wanted to and not pressure him. I wonder if you laid off and let her eat ceral for a good week straight and then sat her down with everyone else who was eating other food, if she would want what you guys had? Not sure what you have already tried, but here are some other suggestions: Let her have cereal but mix it with different things to give her a variety, vitamins (to ensure she is getting what she needs), smoothies (great way to pack in lots of nutrients!), make sure the cereal is whole grain and healthy - not sugary - at least. Good luck! :o)

  • My son did the same thing. He's still picky.
When all he wanted was rice cereal we would mix some yogurt in it as well as super cooked and mashed carrots so he couldn't tell they were in there.
He went through a stage of only eating grilled cheese as carrots went in there as well.
We also bought liquid vitamin drops and would mix one in with his cereal.
He's on the brink of turning 3 and is still growing fast and healthy, so don't worry too much about it. :)
