When should I be concerned?

My son is almost a year old. Hasn't started walking yet so he is still a bit chunky. He has always been a bigger/heavier baby than most. My question is when should I worry about him having a chubby belly? He is 30 3/4'' tall and weighs 27 lbs.

  • You don't worry when they are this little. When he finally does start walking you will be wondering when he is going to gain weight because they burn off everything they eat. Just be patient he will walk soon.

  • I agree. My DD was within the range of "normal" but a little chunky. She was a late walker (16 mos) but as soon as she started walking, she lost that belly. As long as your child is eating a good, well-rounded nutritious diet there are no worries.
