  • You may be able to donate it to a class where they could use it for training purposes.

  • Donating it to a class or seeing about recycling some of the materials sounds good.

It's not really "perfectly good" if it's expired - the reason safety equipment like car seats and helmets expire is because their structural integrity breaks down over time; rendering them not as safe.

  • Goodwill here doesn't take carseats. I dont know of many thrift stores that will even take them anymore because there is no way to tell if they are still safe.

  • I gave mine to an organization that helps out needy moms - they take donations of any and all baby stuff, including car seats - the only thing is they make the moms sign a waiver saying they understand the seat may have been in an accident or expired, etc, and they will not hold the organization liable if anything happens to their child while using the seat. So, you could see if there's someplace like that in your area, or just give it to a needy mom.

  • If the carseat is expired, THROW IT OUT!!!!!!!!!! It is not safe any longer. I would NEVER donate an expired carseat to anyone, that is just wrong. Do NOT give it away, just throw it away. If you won't use it because it is expired, then don't expect someone else to risk their children's safety either.

uuhh, you know that she can just donate it to a fire house or one of those places that only show you how to use a car seat correctly. relax.

  • Well the reason she isn't using it, is because her kid outgrew it, not because it's expired.

  • I would donate it to a place where they can use it for demosntration purposes only. If you can't find any, then you can probably recycle it. It's got a lot of plastic that you could recycle. To make sure no one uses it again, cut the straps. If it's expired, no one should use it. Even if it seems "perfectly good."

It IS expired, she said so herself. OP, if it were me, I'd cut the straps and toss it in the trash.
