How much formula should my one month old be eating?

My one month old will just not stop eating. He cries as soon as the bottle comes out and stops when you give him more. He has been eating 6 ounces per feeding lately. This just cant be normal, can it?

  • I would not worry one bit about her eating too much if she's not getting sick afterward or anything. Right now you should be feeding to satisfaction and on demand (that is "as much as they want, as often as they want") When you get a "feeding boom" like that where the baby is eating more and more, a lot of times they will start to go longer between feedings too. I would have killed to have a baby that was a good eater, because a lot of time they are good sleepers daughter was too skinny and ate every hour and a half around the clock an ounce or two at a time for months. My girlfriend worried that her son was too big and ate too much...he's 2 and she's 3 and they're both perfectly normal weights now. Kids just grow differently.

  • My 1 month old does the same thing though not all the time. He eats 4oz. every 3-4 hours although sometimes he sleeps up to 6 hours and thats when I notice that he still seems hungry after the 4oz.. Im afraid to only give him more after a long sleep because I dont want to throw him off since normally he does just fine with only the 4oz as long as he doesnt go more than 4 hours without eating. But I guess if your baby isnt getting sick or a tummy ache after his feedings and hes not gaining too much weight its probably just fine.
